Own Again

Terms and Conditions

Version 1.1 · Effective 3 October 2026

These terms apply to everyone who lists an item with Own Again ("we", "us"), based in Kenya. By ticking the box before you pay and submit, you agree to these terms, including the privacy section. If you don't agree, please don't submit a listing.

1. Own Again is not responsible for sales between buyers and sellers

  1. We only advertise listings.Own Again posts items on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and our marketplace. We are not a party to any sale. We do not own, inspect or verify any item, seller or buyer. This also applies to our done-for-you service, where our team visits a seller's home or business to photograph and list items. Photographing an item is not an inspection. We do not confirm its condition, authenticity or ownership, and the seller remains responsible for everything in section 2.
  2. Buyers must verify before paying. Before sending any money, buyers are fully responsible for confirming that the item exists, matches its description, and belongs to the seller. We strongly recommend seeing the item in person. For cars, check the logbook; for property, check the title and do an official search.
  3. Losses are not our responsibility. If a buyer or seller loses money or goods in a deal made through a listing, Own Again is not liable. This applies to every deal made outside Own Again Escrow.
  4. Use escrow for protection. Buyers who want protection can use Own Again Escrow for a fee of KES 1,000. See ownagain.co.ke/escrow.html for how it works.
  5. We never ask for payment for items.Own Again only collects money for an item through Escrow, and only after confirming the deal by phone with both the buyer and the seller. Anyone else asking for payment "on behalf of Own Again" is an impostor. Do not pay them.
  6. Reporting a scam.If you report a scam, we will remove the listing and may block the seller. If you have filed a police report, we will share the seller's details with the police when they formally request them. We do not share seller details directly with buyers.

2. Your responsibilities as a seller

By submitting a listing, you confirm that:

  1. You own the item, or have the owner's permission to sell it.
  2. The item is available and in your possession, and is not already sold.
  3. Your description, price and photos are accurate and not misleading.
  4. The photos are your own, or you have the right to use them.
  5. For cars: you hold the logbook, or you are authorised by the registered owner to sell.
  6. For property: you hold the title, or you are authorised by the owner to sell or let it.
  7. The public contact number you give is yours and reachable. You agree it will be published in your listing.

If you list an item fraudulently, we will remove it without a refund. We may also block you from listing again and share your details with the police.

3. Items you cannot list

  1. Stolen goods, or items you don't own or have no right to sell
  2. Weapons, ammunition and explosives
  3. Drugs, prescription medicines and drug paraphernalia
  4. Alcohol and tobacco products
  5. Adult or sexual content
  6. Items that are recalled, unsafe, or illegal to sell in Kenya
  7. Items that aren't actually available: already sold, not in your possession, or pre-orders

We may reject or remove any listing we believe breaks this list.

4. Fees and payment

  1. You pay a listing fee per item, shown on the form before you pay. Fees may change, but the fee you see when you pay is the fee you are charged.
  2. Payment is by M-PESA, processed by a licensed payment provider.
  3. You can list up to 5 items per submission for cars, property and businesses, and up to 20 for other categories.

5. Review, rejection and refunds

  1. We may approve, reject, or ask you to change any listing.
  2. If we ask for changes, we will text you a link to edit your listing. There is no extra charge to resubmit.
  3. If we reject your listing before it goes live, you get a full refund within 7 business days, to the M-PESA number you paid from.
  4. If we remove a live listing because it breaks these terms (for example fraud, a prohibited item, or photos that aren't yours), there is no refund. We may also block you from listing again.

6. How your listing is posted

  1. We post your items to Own Again's Instagram Feed, Instagram Story, Facebook, TikTok and our marketplace. We post on our own accounts, not yours.
  2. We write the caption from the details you give us, and may format it to suit each platform.
  3. We aim to post promptly, but we don't guarantee exact posting times. Your chosen Instagram Story time is honoured where possible.
  4. Instagram, Facebook and TikTok are run by other companies. We are not responsible for their outages, for how many people see your post, or for a post they remove.

7. Reposts and Story boosts

  1. Free Story boosts: you can boost each item to our Instagram Story up to 4 times, at least 48 hours apart, using the link we text you.
  2. Paid reposts: you can pay to repost an item to our Instagram Feed, Instagram Story and Facebook. Reposts do not go to TikTok.
  3. If a paid repost fails on any platform, we will post it manually on that platform within 48 hours. No refund is due in this case.
  4. If a paid repost can't go out at all, for example because the item was sold, hidden or removed, or we cancelled it, you get a full refund within 7 business days. The exception is a listing removed for breaking these terms (section 5.4), where no refund is due.
  5. You can mark an item as sold at any time using the same link.

8. Your photos and listing content

  1. You keep ownership of your photos and text.
  2. You give Own Again a free, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to use them to publish and promote your listing and Own Again. This includes posting, cropping, resizing, editing, and adding our branding.
  3. This licence continues after your item sells. Past posts may stay on our pages.
  4. You can ask us to remove a specific post at any time. We will remove it within 7 working days.

9. Text messages

We send text messages to the M-PESA number you pay from. They carry your listing management link, requests to edit your listing, and notices if your listing is rejected or removed. These messages are part of the service.
